Hut&Given Fund was established by Gary Russell and Ria Maguire in June 2019. It operates as a sub fund of Australian Philanthropic Services Foundation.

The fund aims to promote structured philanthropic activities by the family of the founders, and to support targeted recipients now and into the future as a way of ‘giving back’ to those around us.

In considering potential recipients, the founders have preferences around ideas of rurality, providing opportunity, and supporting creativity and innovation.

The name HUT&GIVEN was chosen to mirror these preferences. The founders are Tasmanian by birth and upbringing. Bush huts in that context are secure places of refuge as well as supporting collegiality and sharing of ideas.
